Friendships across borders

Before moving to Kandel, I had never come across this kind of association, but I immediately liked the idea: it maintains the town’s twinning partnerships with Reichshoffen in Alsace and Whitworth in England. I especially enjoy meeting our English friends — their mentality just suits me. Those encounters have led to friendships that have now lasted 15 years. Because I believe in the idea so strongly, I decided early on to get involved on the committee.

From silliness to Swiss precision

For years I performed with the Showbuwe, covering the full range with the group — from complete silliness to clever insider humour. These days, I take the stage as a carnival speaker. My task: with a Swiss accent, dialect and meticulous attention to detail, I lead the audience in the opening oath to the “goldich Kannler Fasenacht”, Kandel’s carnival. My fondness for dry British humour comes in very handy.

My roots are in Landau-Wollmesheim, I grew up in Rülzheim — and eventually married into Kandel. This is where I started my family, found my home and put down roots. Kandel is home.
